Chronic Pain and Illness
Chronic pain was how I found my way into a career in therapy.
All too often we're told that chronic pain is in our heads, but I know it's real. As someone who has struggled with pain and illness, I know all too well how isolating it can all be, especially when it strikes us young. We're often left wondering what kind of future we can have if we're already unwell. Mindfulness and other tools have helped me to heal and work through not only physical pain, but the underlying emotional pain. And while pain is certainly not in your head, our minds and bodies are intimately tied together, and our thoughts and feelings do impact our physical health.

How I work
I have a belief in the body's ability to heal. With chronic illness and pain, my focus is on helping you live a more fulfilling life. My goal is to first get to know you and understand how pain and or illness has impacted your life. We'll work together to find tools to help you control your pain (yes your pain can get better through psychological interventions!), and we'll use self compassion to help you change old patterns that may have contributed to your body's challenges. I truly believe that where there is hope, healing can happen.
